South PTO Fundraiser Announcement: The South PTO team will be at the South Gym from 3:30 to 5:30 pm this evening to distribute orders from the recent trash bag fundraiser. Please park and enter the back entrance on the east side of the gym.

🐾In partnership with physicians from Bothwell Regional Medical Center, we will be offering free physicals during school hours on Tuesday, May 13th.🐾 Who should participate: 👉🏼5th grade students planning to participate in middle school sports next year. 👉🏼6th–11th grade students with an expiring physical Important Reminders: 👉🏼5th graders received forms to take home. To ride the bus to the high school, a completed form must be submitted to the school office by 5/13. 👉🏼6th–11th graders with an expiring physical were also sent home with forms. Please return them to the school office by 5/13. 👉🏼Need another copy? Forms are available in the JBMS/HS offices or online: https://5il.co/3dis0 ❕To participate in any MSHSAA activity, student-athletes must have a current MSHSAA Medical Eligibility Form on file. This free physical opportunity ensures your student is eligible for their sport or activity.

Mark your calendars! All 3rd-5th grade students will be MAP testing from 4/29-5/16. If a student misses a testing day, make-up testing is required, which may result in missing out on fun activities. Rewards parties will take place for students who have good attendance during testing.

South Elementary 3rd graders took advantage of the nice weather this week while learning about perimeter and area while designing a house. They made their “blueprints” out of chalk. 🏠📐📏 #WildcatExcellence

🎉Please help us extend a HUGE congratulations to South Elementary's Shaffer Brown! To our knowledge, Shaffer is the first-ever 2nd grader in our district to reach 1 MILLION words through the Reading Counts program! 🤩📚👏🏼 When asked how he did it, Shaffer humbly said it was easy — he "only had to read for two hours each night." 😅 We are so proud of Shaffer’s dedication and love for reading. Were you among the ones that got tricked with brown E's? 😂 South Elementary students in Miss Whitaker’s kindergarten class got Brown E’s for April Fools day! They were able to wrap their brown E back up in foil to trick their grown ups at home! Not to worry - Miss Whitaker didn't allow them to be disappointed for long. Students were able to indulge in real brownies after they were tricked. 🍫🥰

🍋Firstie Fresh Lemonade Co🍋 South Elementary First Graders hosted a lemonade stand for teachers and staff members today. The students each had jobs; including order taking, lemonade pouring, flavor pumping, and adding finishing touches, which included a fun little umbrella! ⛱️ Students delivered the drinks to teachers and collected data on which flavor was the most popular. All of the students had a fantastic time, and the staff members loved the tasty lemonade! #WildcatExcellence
