Lane Howell is a third-grade student at South Elementary and has been awarded the March 2026 Student of the Month spotlight. Staff members shared overwhelming praise for his academic success, leadership, and outstanding character.
Here are some things teachers said about him when nominating him for this spotlight:
“Lane is always very respectful to students and teachers. He chooses to do the right thing even if others are not. Lane continually sets a great example for other students. He is an outstanding student in music and art.”
“He is an amazing young man!”
“I am pleased to nominate Lane Howell. He has passed all of his multiplication and division facts and is currently working on a mix of both—already nearly halfway done. Lane has read over 500,000 words and is on his fourth Harry Potter book. He was selected to be part of the student leadership team. He helps other students and our school counselor and is always looking to improve, working hard in class. Lane is a model student both academically and socially. He does all of this while also being actively involved in sports such as football and basketball.”
“Lane Howell is such a good example to others! He is a very bright young man who shines in so many ways. Lane is the first to volunteer to help another student. He works very hard to stay positive and doesn’t realize just how much his classmates look up to him. He is humble, kind, and always gives his best effort—even when tasks are challenging. Lane is an outstanding student who truly deserves to be recognized!”
“Lane does all the right things—and this is exactly the type of student who deserves to be recognized. His future is bright. I see All-State honors, possibly valedictorian, and many more great accomplishments ahead.”
These words paint a clear picture of who Lane is—not only a hardworking and successful student, but also a kind, humble leader who lifts up those around him. He embodies everything we hope to see in our students and is truly deserving of this recognition.
Way to go, Lane! Thank you for representing South Elementary with leadership, excellence, and Wildcat Pride. We’re so proud of you!
