The Warsaw R-IX Board of Education held its annual Tax Rate Hearing and regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Tax Rate Hearing
The Board approved the district’s tax rates for the 2026 tax year. The district’s operating tax rate remains at the state minimum of $2.7500, while the debt service tax rate was rolled back from $1.1093 to $0.8000.
The total approved tax rate is $3.5500.
Presentations
Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Deckard presented information on IXL as well as the district’s 2026 assessment and test scores. These presentations provided the Board with an overview of student progress and district-level academic data.
Budget & Financial Updates
Superintendent Scott Gemes reviewed the July budget report and year-to-date financials with the Board.

Other New Business & Board Approvals
The Board approved the following items for the 2026–2027 school year:
Tuition of $10,000
Annual agreement with West Central Cooperative for Special Education
Local Compliance Plan for Special Education
Policy G-275-P, the district’s Missouri Ethics Commission conflict of interest policy
Personnel Updates
During closed session, the Board accepted three resignations and approved seven new hires for the 2026–2027 school year.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Warsaw R-IX Board of Education will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Warsaw High School Library. A new teacher dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. prior to the meeting.
The Board also approved moving the October Board of Education meeting to Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 6:00pm.
