Prop KIDS

Proposition KIDS

The Warsaw R-IX School District is excited to announce details about our bond issue that will be on the ballot for the April 2nd, 2024 election. The name of the issue is Proposition KIDS (Keep Improving District Schools). There are multiple projects that we will be able to complete with this “No Tax Rate Increase Bond.” We will have $18 million dollars to complete the projects. Our plan is to construct, remodel, upgrade, repair. We will have an informational meeting at Warsaw High School Gym on March 11th, 2024, at 6pm.

Below is a link to a brochure with information on Proposition KIDS. We will be mailing these out to the Warsaw R-IX School District voters in a couple of weeks. We will also have them available at the school offices as well.

We will be sending out information about different projects throughout the month of March, but the three biggest projects are:

  • 5th grade wing with Severe Weather Storm Shelter

  • Elementary School Restroom Remodel

  • WHS Addition with New Restrooms.

5th Grade Wing:

Elementary Restroom Remodel:

WHS Addition and Remodel with New Restrooms:

The creation of the 5th grade wing will allow us the opportunity to move our PreK and ECSE classrooms to both North and South elementary. Currently, many of our PreK and ECSE students have to travel the farthest. With the 5th grade wing, it will allow us to create the space needed for future additions as well. We have grown in enrollment throughout the district over the last 2 years, and this will allow us to create space for our growing population.

This 5th grade wing will also be a Severe Weather Storm Shelter for the entire HS/JBMS campus. Currently, students would go to interior classrooms, locker rooms, etc. for severe weather. This would be a huge safety feature for our students and staff.

Elementary restroom remodel in both grade schools is well overdue. There are some restrooms that have not been updated and/or remodeled in many, many years. These remodels will improve access to our restrooms.

The WHS addition and remodel will allow us to secure the back of our building, build much needed restrooms, and create an alternative program. The addition will include two class room spaces and new restrooms. The classes will be art and science classrooms that will allow us to open the building in the back for alternative programs. These alternative programs will consist of MoOptions students, credit recovery students, and students that need an alternative setting for their educational needs.

We are very excited about the opportunity to bring this No Tax Rate Increase Bond to our community, staff and students. With these projects, our goals are to:

  • Ensure Safety/Security (CSIP Priority #1)

  • Cut Travel for our PreK and ECSE students (CSIP Priority #2)

  • Improve access to restrooms (CSIP Priority #5)

  • Increase Student Attendance (CSIP Priority #2 and #5)

We are planning for the future growth of our district!

We will be sending out more information on individual projects through short messages on our website and social media posts.
